Social Media Manager

Do you eat, sleep and breathe social media? Are you comfortable creating content for different platforms? Do you want to help us grow our community? Then join the Middleground team as social media manager!

Requirements
  •  A love for all things social media

  • Experience creating different types of content for social media platforms (written posts, images and videos) or a willingness to learn

  • An understanding of design principles

  • Excellent written English

  • The ability to think creatively and come up with ideas to grow our following

  • Great communication skills, timekeeping and independence

What do we expect from you?
  • A few hours of planning, designing and posting content every week

  • To own our social media presence and grow our following

  • Great communication skills, both with the rest of the team and our online community

  • A reliable, professional and approachable attitude, and a team spirit!

Features Editor

Do you have a passion for written content? Are you maybe a writer, blogger or journalist yourself? Then join the Middleground team as our new Features Editor. 

Requirements
  • Comfortable working across different types of formats — whether that's interviews, articles or reviews

  • The ability to critique writing, edit pieces and give feedback

  • Impeccable written English and great attention to detail

  • A good understanding of Middleground's voice and mission to be able to pick the right pieces for Middleground

What do we expect from you?
  • Monitoring and sorting through pitches and submissions 

  • Working alongside each writer to edit and prepare their piece for publication

  • Supporting prospective contributors to take their idea from pitch to finished piece

  • Great communication skills, both with the rest of the team and with each contributor

  • A reliable, professional and approachable attitude, and a team spirit!

Fundraising Manager

Are you interested in helping Middleground support the mixed-race community further? Do you have experience in applying for grants or funding? Then join the Middleground team as our new Fundraising Manager. 

Requirements
  • Previous experience in fundraising or a related field is desirable but not mandatory

  • Experience/knowledge of grant/trust opportunities and/or applications preferable

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and project management abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

  • Passion for Middleground's mission and values

What do we expect from you?
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies

  • Identify potential funding sources, donors, and partnerships

  • Cultivate and develop relationships with potential donors

  • Conduct research on potential grants and funding opportunities and prepare and submit compelling grant proposals to secure funding

  • A reliable, professional and approachable attitude, and a team spirit!

Graphic Designer

Are you interested in putting together Middleground's issues? Do you have experience creating beautiful designs? Then join the Middleground team as our new Features Editor. 

Requirements
  • Previous experience in graphic design is preferable, though not necessarily in an editorial setting

  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and colour theory

  • Excellent communication, ability to work collaboratively and take constructive feedback

  • Passion for Middleground's mission and values

What do we expect from you?
  • Put together two Middleground issues per year, one in Summer and one in Winter

  • Weigh in on branding and design matters

  • Provide ad-hoc designs for social media and marketing campaign
