Social media manager

Do you eat, sleep and breathe social media? Are you up to date on all the latest Instagram, Twitter and Facebook trends? Then join Middleground as a social media manager.

Requirements:

  • A creative and strategic mindset.

  • Experience creating digital content and knowledge of how to grow a following and develop and maintain an online brand.

  • Independence, proactivity and a team spirit.

  • Good written English and excellent communication skills, both with the rest of the team and with our audience.

  • A good understanding of and love for Middleground's mission and voice, as you'll be representing the project online.

What do we need from you?

  • 1 to 2 hours a week to create and schedule content (both manually and using our scheduling tool).

  • Regular engagement with our audience (commenting, reposting, following, etc.).

  • A reliable, professional and approachable attitude, and a team spirit!

What do you get in return for your time?

  • Full training provided.

  • A very friendly, supportive and passionate team!

  • Support wherever we can offer it with your own work and projects.

  • A voice when it comes to the future of Middleground — whether that's new projects, ideas or visions.

Who can apply?

  • This role is only open to mixed-race/multiracial applicants.

  • Applicants can be based anywhere in the world (please note the core team is UK-based).

To apply, please send us:

  • A short bio listing relevant experience and explaining why you want to join the Middleground team.

  • If you want to, you can attach a CV or cover letter, though this is in no way required.

  • Any additional information you think might be relevant for this role.

Please email us at enquiries.middleground@gmail.com with the subject line containing the role you're applying for as well as your name and pronouns by the 1st of July.

Graphic designer

We're looking for a creative graphic designer to help bring each issue of Middleground to life and support the team with other design needs.

Requirements:

  • A creative mindset and an eye for beautiful design.

  • Experience using InDesign, other design tools are also a plus (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). This does not need to be in a professional setting — if you know your way around the software, we don't care about your years of experience!

  • Independence, proactivity and a team spirit.

  • Great communication skills.

  • A good understanding of and love for Middleground's mission and voice, as you'll be representing the project online.

What does the role entail?

  • You'll be in charge of designing each issue of Middleground — organising written and art pieces, typesetting, creating the cover, etc. This takes place twice a year in May/June and November/December.

  • At times, the rest of the team might ask for support with creating graphics for other campaigns and needs, such as social media.

  • A reliable, professional and approachable attitude, and a team spirit!

What do you get in return for your time?

  • Full training provided. A template already exists so the work is partially cut-out for you!

  • A very friendly, supportive and passionate team.

  • Support wherever we can offer it with your own work and projects.

  • A voice when it comes to the future of Middleground — whether that's new projects, ideas or visions.

  • Applicants can be based anywhere in the world (please note the core team is UK-based).

To apply, please send us:

  • A portfolio, professional website or examples of existing work. If you want to, you can also attach a CV or cover letter, though this is in no way required.

  • Any additional information you think might be relevant for this role.
